Day Four

This morning, after having breakfast, we had to pack our luggage and clean up our rooms before leaving the Hotel to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.  On our way there, we stopped for a quick lunch in front of the Tate Modern museum. Once at the theatre, which is located near the Thames, and near St. Pauls’s Cathedral, a guide gave us a fast tour of the building. During the tour, we discovered the Globe’s history and its unusual architecture, and we also saw some actors rehearse for the play Macbeth which was being held afterwards. Interestingly, we found out that the Globe that we were visiting was actually the third, because the previous ones had either burnt down or been destroyed. After the tour, the guide brought us to a studio, where we took part in a theatre workshop around the Balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet. I think this experience was really a highlight of the day, as it helped us discover more about the play itself but also about the basics of acting. We then finally headed to St. Pancras Station, where we took our train back to Paris.
